The aero kit in DTM is just insane.

And it's not just what you see. DTM cars have really well covered carbon fiber monocoque chassis. But despite the fact that the body doesn't have much function in carrying load they are pretty tough. In races you will see the cars taking some damage without larger body parts detaching immediately.
Interestingly DTM shares most of the rule book with Japanese GT500 series.
